How Much Does an Exhibition Stand Cost in the UK?

It’s one of the first questions we’re asked: “How much does an exhibition stand actually cost?” The honest answer is that it depends  but in the UK, you’re generally looking at anything from £15,000 for a modular system through to six-figure investments for a bespoke build. The key isn’t just the number; it’s whether that spend delivers the kind of impact your business needs. Let’s break it down.

Typical Cost Ranges for UK Exhibition Stands

Every exhibition stand falls somewhere on a spectrum. At one end, you have modular solutions , flexible and budget-friendly, usually between £15,000 and £25,000. They’re simple, reusable, and do the job, but they won’t set you apart in a crowded hall.

On the other end, you’ll find large-scale bespoke builds,  immersive spaces with double decks, AV, and hospitality areas. These can easily run into six figures, but they’re designed to create a visitor destination, not just a presence. In the middle sit the majority of custom builds, in the £40,000–£80,000 range, where creativity, brand impact, and practicality meet.

What really drives the costs?

Size is obvious. The bigger the footprint, the higher the budget. But there are subtler factors too:

Design complexity: sleek AV integrations, interactive displays, and bold architecture all add layers of cost.

Materials: sustainable or premium finishes may carry a higher upfront price but can pay back through reuse and brand perception.

Project management: going full-service means you’re not just paying for a stand, but for the full experience, foresight, and problem-solving.

Modular vs Bespoke

Modular stands save money at the outset and can be reconfigured for different shows, making them a sensible option for smaller programmes. But if your brand is serious about visibility and wants to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with market leaders, bespoke usually delivers a stronger return. A well-designed bespoke stand is a sales tool, a meeting space, and a brand presence all in one.

The Costs You Don't See on the Floorplan

This is where exhibitors can get caught out. Freight, handling, rigging, power, internet, cleaning , the add-ons can be significant. Then there’s storage, refurbishment, and transport between shows if you plan to reuse your stand. A clear budget should account for both the visible and invisible costs, so there are no surprises once you’re committed.

Making ROI Part of the Budget Conversation

The smartest exhibitors think beyond the stand itself. A design that’s reusable, functional for your team, and aligned with your brand objectives reduces cost-per-show dramatically. ROI isn’t just about how many leads you scan,  it’s about how well the space enables your team to connect, host, and convert.

At Oaken Design, we’ve delivered everything from £15k modular builds to six-figure bespoke installations. The question we always come back to isn’t just “What does it cost?”,  it’s “What do you want this investment to achieve?
